Who is Gabriel?

Gabriel is an angel named in both the Old and New Testaments who appears to deliver messages from God. In the book of Daniel, he comes to help Daniel understand his visions.

In the Gospel of Luke, Gabriel appears to the priest Zechariah to announce the birth of John the Baptist, and then to Mary to announce that she will give birth to Jesus.
