Who is Mary, mother of Jesus?
Mary is a woman of Nazareth pledged to be married to Joseph. The angel Gabriel visits her and tells her that she will give birth to a son, Jesus, who will be called the Son of the Most High.
Mary gives birth to Jesus in Bethlehem. She appears at points throughout the Gospels, including the wedding at Cana and the crucifixion, and is with the disciples after Jesus' ascension.
