Privacy

This is a short page because we don’t collect much data.

What we collect

Anonymous usage analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, see which chapters are most popular, and understand what visitors search for in the on-site search. The analytics do not use cookies, do not track you across sites, do not identify you personally, and do not build a profile of your browsing. Details are in the “What analytics we use” section below.

Local browser storage. If you read a chapter and return to the site later, your browser remembers where you left off, so we can offer a “continue reading” link. This information lives in your browser only — on your device, in localStorage. We never see it. We never receive it. We never store it on our servers. If you clear your browser data, or use a different device, the continue-reading state resets.

Your theme preference. If you switch the site to dark mode or sepia mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s localStorage so the site stays in the mode you chose. Same as above — local to your browser, never sent to us.

What we do not collect

  • We don’t use cookies.
  • We don’t track you across other websites.
  • We don’t sell, share, or rent any data to advertisers or third parties.
  • We don’t have a user account system, so there’s no name, email, password, or other personal information for us to collect.
  • We don’t embed third-party scripts that track you (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no advertising trackers). The only third-party script the site loads is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless, stores no personal data, and is documented in the next section.
  • We don’t build profiles, audiences, or segments.
  • We don’t sell access to your data, because we don’t have any data about you to sell.

What analytics we use

Bible1.org uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visitors and see which pages are read. This is a privacy-respecting analytics tool. No cookies are set, no IP addresses are stored, no personal data is collected, and no tracking follows visitors to other sites.

Page-view data is aggregated by Cloudflare and shown to us as totals, like “Genesis 1 was viewed 1,250 times this week.” No individual visitor can be identified from this data, and the data is not sold, shared, or used for advertising.

For full technical details, see Cloudflare’s Web Analytics privacy documentation.

How to clear what’s stored locally

If you’d like to clear the continue-reading state or theme preference from your browser, open your browser’s settings, find the “site data” or “storage” section, locate bible1.org, and clear it. The next time you visit, the site will treat you as a new visitor.

If anything changes

If we ever change what data the site collects, we’ll update this page and the change will be visible in the page’s last-modified date in the footer. If we add anything that would require us to start showing a cookie notice or asking for consent under GDPR or similar laws, we’ll add the appropriate notices at that time.
