Who is Sarah?
Sarah is the wife of Abraham and the mother of Isaac. She is first called Sarai, and God gives her the name Sarah at the same time he renames Abram as Abraham.
Unable to have children for most of her life, Sarah gives her servant Hagar to Abraham, and Hagar bears Ishmael. Later God promises that Sarah herself will have a son, and she laughs at the thought, given her age.
The promise is kept: Sarah gives birth to Isaac in her old age. She dies at Hebron, and Abraham buys a field with a cave there to bury her.
