Who is Nathanael?
Nathanael is a disciple whom Philip brings to Jesus. When Philip tells him they have found the Messiah, from Nazareth, Nathanael responds, 'Can anything good come from Nazareth?'
When Jesus sees him coming and says he saw him under the fig tree before Philip called him, Nathanael is convinced and declares, 'You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.'
Nathanael is often identified with Bartholomew, whose name appears in the Gospel lists of the Twelve apostles in the place where John's Gospel names Nathanael.
